The Old Man of Storr is a towering basalt rock formation that was formed about 60 million years ago when a massive landslip occurred, leading to lava flowing onto the weaker sedimentary Jurassic rock beneath it, which resulted in the creation of cliffs along the coastline of Trotternish Ridge in Scotland"s hillside.
