They have been around for over 13,000 years in the wild. Their bluish colour comes from a pigment named anthocyanin, a potent antioxidant linked to various health benefits, including reduced risk of heart disease and improved brain function. Hammonton, in New Jersey, USA, holds the title of the "Blueberry Capital of the World" as over 80% of the state"s cultivated blueberries come from this town. The sandy, acidic soil and optimal climate create ideal conditions for blueberry farming. These scrumptious berries are fibre-rich and packed with antioxidants and vitamin C.
